Yoroi Is Now SecondFi: How to Update and Get Started

Introduction

SecondFi is now live.

Following its introduction at Money20/20 Bangkok, Yoroi Wallet has officially transitioned into SecondFi, a self-custody neofinance platform built for spending, sending, staking, and more, all with you in control.

As part of this transition, the Yoroi app has been updated to SecondFi. To continue accessing your wallet, you will need to update your app to the latest version.

How to Update to SecondFi

Updating to SecondFi is simple.

If you have auto-updates enabled, your Yoroi app will automatically update to SecondFi. If not, you can update it manually from your app store when the update becomes available. The rollout will happen in phases, so some users may receive the update earlier than others.

Watch the tutorial video below to see how to update from Yoroi to SecondFi and access your wallet.

What This Means for Yoroi Users

Everything you can do today, like holding, sending, and staking your assets, remains the same.

SecondFi builds on that foundation by adding more ways to use your assets in everyday life, including multichain access, global card-based spending, and new features over time.

Your self custody wallet, assets, and access remain unchanged, you are simply continuing in an upgraded experience.

What happens to Yoroi?

Yoroi Wallet is becoming SecondFi. Users benefit from a brand new upgraded experience with new features whilst still keeping the same self-custody foundation.

At the same time, the Yoroi brand will continue independently within the ecosystem as a DRep (Delegated Representative), supporting governance participation. Your stake pool and DRep ID will remain unchanged.

What additional features do I get access to?

SecondFi expands the Yoroi experience with additional features beyond storing and staking. We remain a self custody platform.

Users gain access to multichain support with 10,000+ assets, cross-network asset swapping, and expanded transfer capabilities across supported networks.

SecondFi also introduces global spending through the SecondFi Card, allowing users to use their assets for everyday payments anywhere Visa is accepted.

Additional features and capabilities will continue rolling out over time as the SecondFi platform expands.

Do I need to create a new wallet?

No.

When SecondFi launches, your existing Yoroi wallet will remain exactly the same and will carry over automatically when you update your app.

If you choose to use multichain features, you may need to create an additional wallet within SecondFi to access assets on other networks. This does not affect your existing Yoroi wallet.

What happens if I don’t update the app?

If you do not update your Yoroi app, you will not be able to make transactions in Yoroi.

If auto-updates are enabled, your app will update automatically to SecondFi. Otherwise, you will need to update it manually from your app store.

Will all wallets restore automatically on SecondFi?

Not always.

You should not assume all wallets will restore automatically. In some cases, you may need to manually restore your wallet using your recovery phrase.

Will this app update affect my funds?

No.

The app update itself does not affect your funds.

Your wallet should transition to SecondFi as part of the update, and you will be able to access it as usual.

As a precaution, we recommend backing up your recovery phrase before updating. In the unlikely event that your wallet does not appear after the update, you can use your recovery phrase to restore access.

Are my assets safe?

Yes.

You do not need to move your assets. They remain under your control at all times.

If anyone asks you to transfer your assets or share your recovery phrase as part of this transition, it is a scam.

How do I get a SecondFi Card?

Users can get a virtual SecondFi Card directly within the app.

Existing Yoroi users will need to activate multichain features, create a multichain wallet, and complete a quick identity verification (KYC) process before accessing card features. Once approved, users can top up their card from their account balance. There is no minimum card top-up requirement.

The SecondFi Card can be added to Apple Pay and Google Pay and used for online and in-store purchases anywhere Visa is accepted worldwide.

Physical card support will roll out in a later phase. Check supported countries where card features are available here.

I use a hardware wallet. Do I need to do anything before getting a SecondFi Card?

After migrating to SecondFi, you'll need to activate Multichain by connecting your hardware wallet.

If you're using a Ledger device, make sure the Ethereum app is installed on your Ledger to activate Multichain.

If you're using a Trezor device, no additional network apps are required. Trezor supports compatible networks through a single interface.

For step-by-step guidance, watch the tutorial video below.

How do I add my SecondFi Card to Apple or Google Pay?

You can manually add your SecondFi Card to Apple Pay or Google Wallet using the card details available in the SecondFi app. Watch the tutorial video below for a step-by-step guide.

I stake my ADA with Yoroi. What changes?

Nothing changes.

Your delegated stake, rewards, and settings continue as usual, and you can still manage your staking directly through SecondFi.

What happens to Yoroi as a DRep?

No change.

The Yoroi DRep continues to operate as usual, and you can still participate in Cardano governance through SecondFi.

What chains does SecondFi support?

SecondFi supports multiple blockchain networks, allowing users to manage and use assets across ecosystems within one app.

Supported networks currently include:

  • Cardano

  • Bitcoin

  • Ethereum

  • BNB Smart Chain

  • Solana

  • Base

  • Avalanche

  • Tron

Additional chains and network integrations will continue to roll out in future phases.

Do I need to do anything else?

No additional steps are required beyond updating your app and backing up your wallet.

Once updated, you can continue using your wallet as usual in SecondFi.

If you’d like to access assets across multiple networks or use features like global spending, you can choose to enable multichain within the app at any time.

Looking Ahead

SecondFi is just the beginning.

More chains, expanded earning opportunities, borrowing, and additional features will be added over time, making it easier to grow and use your assets in one place.
